3 Bikolnon children's storybooks launched

PILI, Camarines Sur, July 18, 2016 -- Three illustrated children's storybooks in Bicol were launched in time for the 2016 National Children's Book Day this month.

The multilingual storybooks written by Carlos A. Arejola and illustrated by Angelo Perida, Abegail Bongalonta, and Johannsus Olarte Botor II were launched on July 16 at the Raul S. Roco Library in Naga City.

They will also be featured in book fairs coinciding with the Seminar-Workshop on Writing Stories for Children and Book Illustration at the San Jose Central School on July 23, and at the Baao Central School on July 30.

Author Arejola and book illustrators Botor and Micah Hilotin will be the resource speakers at the seminar series.

The storybooks, laid-out and designed by Froy P. BeraƱa, include the bilingual "An Amiga kong si Joni" (My Friend Joni), "An Mga Aki na Parasara ni Bulawan" (Ang Mga Batang Mananala ng Ginto), and the trilingual "Si Miriam asin an Saiyang Samhod, Panlampaso, Pantrapo asin Panhaklot nin Ati", book one of the Boom Boom Boom: An Mga Aki kan Camarinezoom Trilogy.

Copies of the children's books will be turned over to DepEd Pili District at the Libro para sa Aki kan Pili, a program commemorating the children's book day on July 28 at the Millennium Pavilion of the Pili Central School. The donation is made possible by the Support to Education Fund of the Pili Local Government.
