The feasibility study shall be funded by the national budget through TIEZA which came few months after the Provincial Government’s Friendship Bridge project proposal was approved by the Regional Development Council (RDC) during its second quarter full council meeting.

Governor Joey S. Salceda of Albay, chairman of the RDC 5, requested the DPWH Regional Office to conduct the Pre-Feasibility Study of the Friendship Bridge during the council meeting of the RDC 5 on March 6, 2015.

It was revealed in the Core Infrastructure Projects that the Friendship Bridge was included in the complimentary projects in the Luzon Spatial Development Framework, during the Provincial Rural Enterprises Committee Orientation conducted by NEDA on February 24.

The Friendship Bridge is expected to boost tourism in the province and reduce the isolation of Catanduanes from the Bicol mainland. (by Edna A. Bagadiong, PIA)
