Ex Gov Wong blasts revival of drug case

VIRAC, Catanduanes (Bicol Standard)—Former Catanduanes Gov. Aracely “Manay Cely” Wong has decried the refilling of the charges involving her and her two sons Joseph and Jardin in the mega shabu lab case.

In a statement titled “Panawagan at Babala sa aking mga Kababayan” sent to the Bicol Standard, Wong dubbed as “manipulation” how her name and those of her sons are continuously dragged into the issue by people who want to remain in power.

‘Decent, God-fearing, industrious’

She narrated that she and her family have long been known by the Catandunganon people as decent, God-fearing, and industrious individuals.

Previous recommendation for dismissal

Wong said that during the time of Department of Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre, the case against her and her sons was recommended to be dismissed.

This was because, according to her, there was no evidence against them.

In the congressional inquiry, Wong recalled, a representative even said it was unjust for the name of the Wong family to be continuously tagged in the shaming brought about by the investigation.

Challenge

Wong said she strongly believes there are forces behind the re-filing of the case.
Nonetheless, she and her family will take this as a challenge.

Wong also thanked her supporters and requested that they prepare themselves to continue what they have already begun.
