PHIVOLCS warns of Bulusan Volcano's increased seismic activity

SORSOGON CITY, November 19, 2016 (Bicol Standard)-- The seismic activity of Bulusan Volcano is increasing, PHIVOLCS announced in its bulletin this morning.

"The increased seismic activity may be precursory to minor steam-driven or phreatic eruptions that may occur at the currently active west-northwest, northwest, southeast, southwest or summit vents, based on past behavior of the volcano," PHIVOLCS said in its bulletin earlier today.

It also recorded 89 volcanic earthquakes from 5:00 AM to 7:30 PM yesterday and weak emission of white steam plumes.

Alert Level 1 (abnormal) remains in effect over Bulusan Volcano.
