GK bares competition for business startups

PILI, Camarines Sur--Here’s a chance for Bicol students and young entrepreneurs to let their business ideas get off the ground. 



The Gawad Kalinga is sponsoring a Bicol Social Business Competition for entrepreneurial youth, aged 16-30, which will assure them a slot in the Global Social Business Summit at the GK Enchanted Farm in Angat, Bulacan in January 20-22 next year.

Interested participants will have to form a team comprised of a maximum three members who are willing to start a feasible agri-based enterprise which will benefit the less privileged, with a social impact, and adhere to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

They will have to register online until November 25.

Other dates they will have to remember is November 28, during which a Top 7 proponents will be chosen; December 2, during which they will be judged by a multi-stakeholder jury in a public presentation of their proposals, and from among whom the Top 3 teams will be picked.

According to the GK organizers, the Top 3 winners are assured of support to implement their projects at the Farm Village University in Bicol which will be located in Bahai, Libmanan, Camarines Sur.

The Top 1 on the other hand will represent Bicol in the Global Business Summit where they will be joined by other Southeast Asian students, aside from receiving further project mentorship and preparation.
