Red tide warning up in Milagros, Masbate

MASBATE CITY, October 28, 2016 (Bicol Standard)--The coastal waters of Milagros, Masbate are positive for red tide toxin. This is according to Shellfish Bulletin No. 31, released by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources on October 26, 2016.

All types of shellfish and Acetes sp. or alamang gathered from the area are not safe for human consumption. Meanwhile, fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.

Said information is based on the latest laboratory results of BFAR and local government units.
