Sorsogon security tightened; Gov. Rodrigueza takes the lead

SORSOGON CITY, September 9, 2016 (Bicol Standard) -- Gov. Bobet Lee Rodrigueza is taking the lead in Sorsogon in the response to President Rodrigo Duterte's Proclamation No. 55 (Declaring A State of National Emergency On Account of Lawlessness in Mindanao).

In an interview with Bicol Standard, Rodrigueza said, "I personally checked the situation at Matnog Port since it is an entry point from the Visayas and Mindanao and could be prone to danger as far as this issue is concerned."

On September 6, he called for a Provincial Peace and Order Council Special Meeting at the Farmer's Training Hall, Capitol Compound, Burabod, here to discuss the measures to be done in connection with the declaration with police officials, military officials, and representatives from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

In said meeting, Rodrigueza called for the public's support and cooperation as they tighten security measures.

Meanwhile, Sorsogon Provincial Police Office OIC Senior Supt. Ronaldo Cabral, who attended the meeting said their team is focused on increasing police visibility and designating additional checkpoints.
