Bicolano artist features Our Lady of Penafrancia in paintings, drawings

NAGA CITY, September 5, 2016 (Bicol Standard) -- Bicolano artist Roderick "Akong" Imperio will showcase several art pieces featuring Our Lady of Penafrancia at Ateneo de Naga University's Xavier Hall at 4:30 p.m. today.


Imperio, who hails from Libod Uno, Libmanan, Camarines Sur, has artworks featuring Ina in watercolor, pastel, acrylic, and charcoal in an exhibit called "Strengthening Our Devotion to Ina Through Arts."

The former student of Aquinas University's Fine Arts Major in Advertising program has exhibited works in various parts of the country as well as in Brunei. He also has offers to exhibit his works in other parts of Asia.

The full-time artist, who owns Imperio Art Gallery in Libmanan, is a member of Salingoy Art Group, an organization of visual artists from the Bicol region.

The fiesta-themed exhibit was organized by Ateneo de Naga University and Gabay Scholars Organization.

It runs until September 13, 2016.
