Hot pursuit ops underway vs. Camalig gang rape suspects

CAMALIG, Albay, September 13, 2016 (Bicol Standard) -- The hot pursuit operation is still ongoing against the three suspects of a gang rape in this town that allegedly occurred Tuesday morning.

The suspects in the gang rape are allegedly drug personalities in this town. One of them, reports say, has a pending drug-related case while the two are drug surrenderees.

The victim positively identified the suspects through the rogue gallery of Camalig Municipal Police Station.

Meanwhile, in a separate media interview, the victim said that around 9:30 p.m. on Monday night, she was sharing stories with two male friends at a hut.

At around 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, the three suspects arrived. One of them allegedly had a gun with a still unknown calibre.

Her two friends, she said, were told to lie prostrate on the ground while the three suspects raped her while she was at gunpoint.

The incident occurred until around 4 a.m., according to the victim.

After which, she was freed by the suspects.

It was then that she sought the assistance of a barangay official, who brought her to the police station.
Meantime, the barangay officials of the village where the incident took place confirmed that the suspects have already fled the area. (With reports from Mark Kevin Arroco and Jo Roco)
