FLASH REPORT | 2-year-old taken hostage on board bus

OAS, Albay, September 5, 2016 (Bicol Standard) -- A 2-year old child was taken hostage by a passenger of a Raymond bus at around 12 midnight at Ilaor, Oas, Albay.

As of the time of this writing, the hostage-taking is still ongoing.

The hostage taker, armed with a knife, was identified as Bayani Balanon. He is from Milagros, Masbate.

The mother of the hostage victim is Marlene Malabarbas, of Balud, Masbate, while the bus driver was identified as Graciano Mendoza of Calauag, Quezon.

The hostage taker along with the victim is seated in the middle portion of the bus, police sources said.

According to the suspect, he wants GMA 7’s Mike Enrique to be the negotiator, and will only surrender to said media personality.

He also wants the bus driver to accompany him to return to Manila as soon as possible.

The bus is heavily tinted and the movement of the passengers could not be seen from the outside.

Currently serving as hostage negotiators are PCSupt Melvin Ramon Buenafe, Bicol PNP Regional Director and PSSsupt Antonino Cirujales , Provincial Director of Albay Provincial Police Office.
