NAGA CITY, September 12, 2016 (Bicol Standard) -- Muslims in Naga City today celebrate Eid al-Adha. The celebration, which is filled with prayers and ritual sacrifices is also known as Hari Raya Haji, Hari Raya Kurban, Qurban, or the Festival of Sacrifice, according to the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos. It is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam.

"Eid al-Adha honors Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail on the order of almighty Allah who eventually provided a lamb in the boy’s place. Here, the Muslim community commemorates almighty Allah’s forgiveness of Ibrahim (Abraham) from his promise to sacrifice his own son Ismail (Ishmael) as commanded by almighty Allah" says the NCMF.
