2 Sorsogon human trafficking victims rescued

MATNOG, Sorsogon, September 7, 2016 (Bicol Standard) – A criminal complaint for violation of R.A. 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003) was filed against Magasoga P. Rankim, of unknown address, at the Sorsogon Prosecutors Office for violation of the said law.



Rankim, was identified in the July 1, 2016 police report as the person who offered Wilson Molina Geneblazo Jr. and Nonito Garbida Pantone Jr. a job as helper in his grocery.

Since then, however, the two have been missing.

Molina and Garbida who are both residents of this town, used to be coin divers at the Ferry Terminal at Matnog Port before they were lured by Rankin to work for him at an undisclosed place.

Meanwhile, in a follow-up report, it was revealed that the Matnog PNP had received a notice confirming that both Molina and Garbida were spotted to have boarded a red Innova SUV, which was later confirmed to belong to Rankim, the report added.

The same vehicle is marked with conduction no. VE 5637.

In a follow-up investigation,Matnog PNP confirmed that they got a report that last September 3, the missing persons were rescued by Butuan City Police.

Last Setember 6, at 5:30 pm, they were both turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare Office (MWSO), and finally to their respective parents.
