PIWAD water is clean – GM Cunanan

PILI, CAMARINES SUR August 30, 2016 (Bicol Standard) -- “Our water is clean. There is no truth to the radio broadcast that a decomposing human body was found floating in our water reservoir,” Pili Water District (PIWAD) General Manager Paulino Cunanan told the members of the media in an press conference the other day.

Cunanan said that he was alarmed when Pili Town Mayor Tomas Bongalonta called his attention regarding the radio broadcast which aired a police blotter report regarding the decomposing human body, which was dumped in the reservoir.

“Upon receipt of the information, I immediately ordered the disconnection of our water supply from the source, which is located at Sitio Bongcao, Brgy. Cury. Then we conducted a thorough inspection of our reservoir was made. We found out that the report which found its way to the broadcast media was false”, he added.

Meanwhile, during the press conference, the radio reporters assigned at the PNP provincial office told Cunanan that they simply lifted their news from the daily police journal.

Upon investigation, however, it was discovered that the decomposing human body was found floating at the abandoned reservoir, formerly operated by the Bicol Hydro, located at Brgy. Palestina, which is at least 10 kilometers away from the PIWAD’s water source.

As proof that the water from PIWAD is clean, GM Cunanan Mayor Tomas Bongalonta, OIC Police Chief Insp.Chito Oyardo and PIWAD Asst Division Supervisor Armand Camu simultaneously drank a glass of water sourced from their reservoir.

Cunanan asked the help of the media to inform the public that there is no truth to the said media report.
