Ombudsman suspends Gov. Tallado for 'Disgraceful and Immoral Conduct'

DAET, Camarines Norte, August 31, 2016 (Bicol Standard) -- The Ombudsman has rendered judgment holding Camarines Norte Governor Edgardo Tallado administratively liable for Disgraceful and Immoral Conduct.

The anti-graft body meted Tallado a penalty of six months suspension without pay for his nude photos with another woman other than his lawful wife which circulated online in 2014.

"Such extra-marital affair is a conduct inconsistent with morality. [Tallado] is occupying the highest elective position in Camarines Norte. He is therefore expected to observe high moral standards in his dealings, official or otherwise, and be an example of uprightness. He failed to adhere to this exacting standard," the decision reads.

Meanwhile, the Ombudsman noted that it finds without basis Tallado's contention that there is a pending similar complaint with the Office of the President.

"Records show that the complaint of Avila against [Tallado] with the CSC is for a different cause of action," the same decision reads.

Tallado's camp has not released a statement regarding the issue as of the time of this posting.
