Double time on Double Barrel, RD Buenafe tells Bicol cops

Report by Oscar Esmenda

NAGA CITY August 19, 2016 (Bicol Standard) – After being named as among the three regional offices in the country which have below par performance in the anti-illegal drugs campaign, the Police Regional Office in Bicol said they will interpret the report positively.

This was revealed by Camarines Sur Provincial Police Office Senior Superintendent Walfredo Pornillos in an interview by the BICOL STANDARD this morning.

Pornillos said the same was relayed to them by Bicol PNP Regional Director Chief Superintendent Melvin Buenafe who called for an emergency meeting of the Chiefs of Police of Camarines Sur last night to challenge them to intensify their campaign.

“The report will give us the opportunity to focus on the areas where the regional office has not fared well in the all-out anti-illegal drug campaign,” Pornillos said.

He added that according to Buenafe, Chief Superintendent Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa may have not gotten the correct information about the Bicol PNP operation.

However, Buenafe said this should not dishearten the team, who should take the report as a challenge.

Meanwhile, he confirmed that the main focus of the Bicol PNP is Oplan Double Barrel, which means there will be more search warrants and arrest warrants served against those who violate the law on illegal drugs.
