Barangay and SK polls to be reset next year
According to a report, Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and Majority Floor Leader Rep. Rudy Farinas of Ilocos Norte asked the members of the House of Representatives to support the bill that intends to defer the barangay and SK polls next year.
Rep. Farinas said that the House version would just adopt the Senate version to do away with the bicameral conference, in case there are provisions which differ from each other.
It was also explained by both Alvarez and Farinas that the postponement of the barangay and SK polls would give President Rodrigo Duterte ample time to fill up vacancies in the government.
Otherwise, he would be barred from performing such act due to the 45-day election ban before a regular election and 30 days before a special election, they said.
