PAGASA issues weather update on Tropical Storm Nepartak

At 10:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Nepartak outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) was estimated based on all available data at 1,855 km East of Visayas (12.4˚N, 141.7˚E) with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It is forecast to move Northwest at 30 kph. It is expected to enter the PAR by Tuesday (July 5) and will be named “Butchoy”.

The Tropical Storm is expected to be at 1,655 km East of Infanta, Quezon by tomorrow morning. By Wednesday morning, it is expected to be at 935 km East of Aparri, Cagayan. By Thursday morning, it is expected to be at 255 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes and by Friday morning, it is expected to be at 450 km North Northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.

Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) East of Sorsogon City, Sorsogon has dissipated.

The general public and disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned are advised to monitor for the next update to be incorporated in the public weather forecast at 5:00 pm today and for the next advisory to be issued at 11:00 am tomorrow.
