The suspect, identified as Amelia Silvestre, 29 years old, was arrested after 7 medium-sized plastic sachets containing a substance believed to be shabu were found in her possession at Molave, Barangay Penafrancia.
Also confiscated was P14,000 in cash, which was believed to be drug money.
Noel Balla, a former police officer who is on absence without leave, was also in the same residence during the buy-bust operation, SPO2 Toby Bongon, Information Officer of the NCPO told the Bicol Standard.
Bongon said Balla tried to wrestle with the apprehending officers and tried to draw his caliber .22 firearm during the arrest in an attempt to defend Silvestre.
Said firearm, which had live ammunition, was found to be unlicensed, Bongon added.
Balla was thus arrested for Illegal Possession of Firearms.
The residence is in the same barangay where a big-time raid was conducted on Saturday where 13 persons were arrested and an estimated P50,000 of shabu were seized.
Both suspects are presently detained at Police Station No. 3, Barangay Penafrancia, this city. (With report from Boyet Paderes)
