AWOL Naga City cop killed in buy-bust

NAGA CITY, July 23, 2016 (Bicol Standard) – Noel Balla, a former police officer here who was considered Absent without Leave (AWOL), was killed earlier today in a buy-bust operation.

According to the initial the report CIDG operatives from the region stormed his residence at around 9 a.m. today.

Balla, it will be recalled, also figured in a police report several weeks ago when an alleged lady drug pusher was arrested in his residence.

In said instance, he allegedly pulled his unlicensed firearms and was thus charged with illegal possession of firearms. He, however, was able to post bail for his temporary release.

Meanwhile, early this morning, in his residence at Zone 5, Greenfield Street, Brgy. Penafrancia he was again the subject of a buy-bust operation.

A sketchy report said that he tried to pull his gun when the CIDG members from the Regional Office fired upon him, causing his instantaneous death.

The said CIDG team was headed by Supt. Eymard Gomez.

The investigation is still underway at press time.
