Catanduanes village chief collared for illegal logging

VIRAC, Catanduanes--An incumbent village chief was collared for violation of the Section 77 of the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines at around 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Brgy. Gogon Sirangan, this town.

Leo Teleb y Panti, 38 years old, married, Brgy Captain of Brgy Dugui Too, Virac, Catanduanes was apprehended by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Lelu P. Contreras, Acting Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 42, Virac, Catanduanes.

It would be recalled that on April 24, 2016, Teleb was caught driving a jeepney loaded with undocumented assorted lumber of different dimensions.

Confiscated were 110 pieces of 2x2x12 of Taloto, one piece of 2x115x7.2 Red Lawaan, three pieces of 2x8x7.2 Red Lawaan and two pieces of 2x2x7.4 Red Lawaan with volume of 516 board feet and estimated market value of P 10,420.00.

The court fixed the recommended bail at P30,000 for the temporary liberty of the accused.--BICOLSTANDARD.COM
