Suspect in murder of Naga City broadcaster nabbed

NAGA CITY, June 19, 2016 (Bicol Standard) – After eight years of hiding, the principal suspect in the murder of broadcaster Ronaldo "Anjo" Julia was finally arrested, the police said.

Julia was killed on August 15, 2008, while he was on his way home to Brgy. San Isidro, Magarao, Camarines Sur.

Reports reaching the BICOL STANDARD say that principal suspect Efren "Pitay" Barrosa y Paz was collared by joint team of police operatives from Regions 5 and 3.

Barrosa is tenth in the list of Most Wanted Persons in Camarines Sur.

The arrest warrant againt the suspect was issued by Judge Zeida Aurora B. Garfin, of Regional Trial Court Branch 19 here.

Barrosa was nabbed while he was in his hideout at Brgy. Villa Aurora, Maria Aurora, Aurora Province at around 11:45 a.m. Saturday.

Julia previously worked for several broadcast stations like DZGE, DZLW in this city and DZRC in Legazpi City.

He was a noted hard-hitting announcer and commentator during his active days in the broadcast industry.

The murder victim is the younger brother of Board Member Nelson Julia of the 3rd district of Camarines Sur and Publisher/Editor Mico Julia of newspaper Weekly Informer.

The suspect will be brought to Camarines Sur today, the police added.
