3 Bicolano congressmen join PDP Laban

QUEZON CITY –At least three Bicolano congressmen who were members of the ruling Liberal Party (LP) have joined the group of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, a few weeks before the new administration assumes office on June 30.

Insiders from the PDP Laban confirmed that Cesar Sarmiento (Catanduanes) Renato Unico (1stdistrict Camarines Norte, and Deogracias Ramos Jr. (2nd district, Sorsogon) have attended the PDP Laban meeting held last week in Makati City.

While the above mentioned Bicolano politicians have not issued any statements why they abandoned the LP and shifted to the party of President Elect Duterte, it appears that this is part of the exodus of political leaders towards the emerging majority.

During the last few weeks, the Duterte group has been seen to have generated new membership from the ranks of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Nationalista Party (NP) Liberal Party (LP) and even members of the Partylist groups.

Apart from the new party recruits from the Bicol Region, the PDP Laban has also attracted to their fold Congressmen Reynato Umali (2nd district, Oriental Mindoro), Jerry Trinas (Iloilo City) Zajid Mangudadatu (2nd district, Maguindanao), Jesus Sacdalan (1st district, North Cotabato) Glona Labadlabad (2nd district, Zamboanga del Norte), Lucy Torres Gomez (4th district, Leyte) Lucille Nava (Guimaras) and Queenie Gonzales (Mandaluyong).
