6 illegal miners arrested in Paracale

PARACALE, Camarines Norte –Six persons allegedly involved in illegal mining were arrested here last June 5, according to the police.

Responsible for their arrest were the joint elements of the Camarines Norte Public Safety Company and the members of the Paracale Municipal Police Station.

The operatives identified the arrested suspects as Zaldy Rile y Clacio alias Sangko/Ka Jay, gold panner, resident of Purok 2, Brgy Tabas, Reynaldo Sotero y Colico alias Nat, of Purok 1, Brgy Capacuan, Raffy Timwat y Basto, of Purok 6, Brgy Tawig, Joel Sta. Rosa y Sanchez, of Purok 6, Brgy. Tawig, Sanchu Sanchez y Sta. Rosa alias Sonny of Purok 2, Brgy Lukban, Jose Panganiban and Jojo Yaneza y Villanueva, of Purok 3, Brgy. Dayhangan, Jose Panganiban.

Said persons are allegedly gold panners involved in illegal mining activities in the area.

Meanwhile, the police operatives also confiscated from the suspects the following items: two pieces of Cap lamps, one ax, one blower, and more or less 30 meters of rope.

In the same police raid, the authorities have also confiscated one Remington Rand Inc calibre .45 pistol with magazine inserted and loaded with six pieces of live ammunition; one empty magazine for the same calibre, holster and a belt bag.

Said items were recovered from Zaldy Rile y Clacio, who was unable to present any permit or other documents regarding the firearm.

At presstime, the suspects are still detained at the Municipal Police Office for further investigation and filing of the necessary complaints against them.

They will be charged with Illegal Mining and Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition. (BICOLSTANDARD.COM)
