Masbate still election hotspot, says PNP Chief

Masbate remains an election hotspot, Police Director Ricardo C. Marquez, PNP Chief said during his visit on Tuesday at Camp Bonny Serrano.

Marquez said that because of Masbate's status, there should be more police visibility in the entire island province.

He further urged cops to remain non-partisan.

Marquez announced that more than 30 Special Action Force cops are already in the province to provide assistance.

The top cop was in the island province to inspect the preparations of the Masbate Police for the 2016 polls.

Marquez reminded the public that a peace covenant will be signed by the provincial candidates, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and peace advocates prior to the elections.

He added that if the peace covenant will be strictly followed, Masbate will be dropped off the list of areas of concern.
