Soreco II suspends implementation of 10% surcharge to late payment of dues

The Sorsogon II Electric Cooperative (Soreco II) has issued an order suspending the imposition of a 10% surcharge to consumers who fail to pay their dues on time.

Office Order No. 57 from General Manager Atty. Percival G. Alvarez reads that the same is due to public clamor.

"The same is hereby suspended immediately," the Order, which is directed to all departments, division and branches of the electric cooperative, the Order dated February 11 states. "Hence, you are directed not to charge the same to delinquent consumers," it further says.

"You will be advised of the decision of the Board after the same is reviewed. You will likewise be advised on what to do with charges that were already paid," Alvarez wrote.

The new policy of Soreco II, it would be recalled, drew flak from member-consumers who called it excessive and unjust.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
