Naga City cops tape gun muzzles

NAGA CITY—Members of the Naga City Police taped the muzzles of their service firearms on Monday in preparation for the holidays, NCPO spokersperson SPO1 Toby Bongon told the BICOL STANDARD.

This is in keeping with a directive from the National Office as part of its efforts to reduce unwarranted injuries during the Christmas season.

Bongon admitted that the ceremonial taping makes it difficult for the cops to use the firearms for legitimate purposes, but recognized that they have to comply with the directive to assure the public of their safety.

He also clarified that police are no longer allowed to fire warning shots, and that the same must only be used as a last recourse.

The gun muzzle tape will be removed on January 4.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
