Catanduanes Gov. Wong cancels COC; son Jardin to run as substitute

VIRAC, Catanduanes—Incumbent Catanduanes Gov. Araceli "Manay Cely" Wong has filed her Statement of Cancellation/ Widthdrawal for her re-election as governor, in line with Section 27 of the 1978 Election Code.

The Election Code mandates: "No certification of candidacy duly filed shall be considered withdrawn or cancelled unless the candidate files with the office which received the certificate of candidacy or with the Commission, a sworn statement of withdrawal or cancellation at any time before the day of election."

In her place, the incumbent governor will field her son Jardin Brian "JB" Wong, who will file his Certificate of Candidacy as substitute today.
