Beware of fake money this holiday season, Bicol's top cop warns

LEGAZPI CITY—The Philippine National Police Bicol regional office has warned the public to be vigilant against counterfeit money that is proliferating in different parts of the country this holiday season.

Police Chief Supt. Augusto M. Marquez Jr., acting PR05 regional director, in particular said fake Php1000 and Php500 bills are currently circulating.

Marquez reminded the public of the BSP-upgraded security features in all of its new generation banknotes to make it easier for the public to determine fake and genuine peso bills.

All these security features, he said, are in the Philippine banknotes to make it difficult for counterfeiters to copy but easier for the public to identify what is genuine and what is not.

The police official also encouraged the public to be vigilant, be calm and report any unscrupulous activities and other relevant and timely information to any nearest police stations or through social media (Twitter: @PRO5React, FB: Kasurog Bicol, or Dial 117 or text 2920 or CRMS hotline 09173097862).
