|DOLE Bicol to form “laglag-bala” response team for Bicolanos|
The local-based response and assistance team, according to the regional director, will be composed of personnel from the DOLE, OWWA, POEA, TESDA, NRCO, NLRC, NCMB and PRC, Lacambra said.
Lacambra said the team will be primarily in charge of relaying information and assistance to the relatives of victims who are in Bicol, and coordinating with local airport officials in the Legazpi City and Naga City domestic airports.
Each member agency, however, will have its specific function, which will be revealed on the team’s first meeting on November 18.
“So far, as per our assessment, there is not much problem in our local airports here. It may be a duplication if we deploy personnel to NAIA since the DOLE Central Office Team is already there. What we can do is to provide assistance to family members of victims who are here,” Lacambra said.
Meanwhile, DOLE Bicol has issued a public service announcement to several radio stations based in the Bicol region to advise OFWs to secure their luggage and look for the DOLE Airport Help Desk at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
