NAGA CITY—The Department of Finance named Naga City, Sorsogon City, Masbate City, Ligao City, Masbate Province, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur in its shame campaign of cities and provinces that failed to submit or submitted late their required electronic Statement of Receipts and Expenditures (eSRE) for the second quarter of 2015.
The eSRE is the basic financial report prescribed by the Bureau of Local Government Finance to monitor the local government units' performance.
"How much incomes were raised by the cities and provinces during the second quarter this year? How were these funds utilized? You'll never know unless you demand for reports," reads the DOF's LGU Tax Watch Number 15 infographic released Wednesday, August 12.
"Make your local treasurers accountable," it urged.
Sorsogon City and Masbate City are in the list with no second quarter FY 2015 electronic Statement of Receipts and Expenditures (eSRE) reports.
Meanwhile, Naga City and Ligao City are among those cities which submitted their report late.
Masbate Province, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur are also mentioned among the provinces which submitted late eSRE reports.
Said cities and provinces failed to meet the July 10 deadline set by the DOF for shifting to the electronic reporting system.
The reporting system, the DOF said in its primer, is in line with the government's objective of increasing transparency and accountablity in the local government units.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM Pirming enot. Pirming bago.
