DSWD Bicol announces photo contest

LEGAZPI CITY—The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 5 will hold the first Listahanan at Work Photo Contest with a theme “Listahanan at work: identifying families in need of social protection” this coming July 24 in Legazpi City.

This activity aims to promote transparency on the process of identifying the poor. It also raises awareness and understanding on activities involved in the 2nd round of assessment.

“We want to engage the public and keep them informed on the conduct of the household assessment so as to gain their support, understanding and appreciation on the project” said DSWD 5 Director Arnel Garcia.

This activity involves an orientation on the 2nd round of assessment and an excursion in areas where participants will take pictures of the actual assessment.

The contest is open to all photography enthusiasts except DSWD staff, either professional or amateur regardless of age or sex. Contestants must submit at least three (3) sample photos taken in digital format along with the application form which can be downloaded at the DSWD 5 website.

Filled up forms and sample photos can be sent to listahananfo5@gmail.com with a subject title of the photographer’s name in the email.

Contestants with the best sample photos submitted shall be contacted by the DSWD Field Office and will officially compete in the regional photo contest.

DSWD Field Office shall set the date for a study tour. Photographers will be given an orientation on the Listahanan 2nd round of assessment before being deployed to the field to take photos. They will be accompanied by a guide who will ensure that the activity will not disrupt the assessment or influence its outcome.

The winners will receive the following prizes: First prize: P 10, 000 & plaque, Second Prize: P 7, 000 & plaque, Third Prize: P 5,000 & plaque.
