Archbishop Rolly Tirona celebrates 69th birthday

NAGA CITY—Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona, OCD chose to celebrate his 69th birthday by sharing his joy in simple celebrations with the Caceres faithful.

Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona, OCD
Tirona was born in Kawit, Cavite on July 22, 1946.

At 6:30 last night, he shared a meal of goto with the seminarians, many of whom have taken a fondness to the amiable Archbishop.

This morning, he attended a mass at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church at Concepcion Pequena.

He will also lead the opening of the Archbishop’s Cup, a sportsfest among priests, at the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary.

This afternoon, a mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral will cap his birthday celebration.

Since being appointed Archbishop of Caceres on September 8, 2012, Archbishop Tirona has been known for his friendly and approachable disposition, both towards the clergy and the laity.

Tirona was ordained priest of the Order of Discalced Carmelites in 1974, then later appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Manila in 1994.

He also served as the Titular Bishop of Vulturaria, Bishop of Malolos, and Prelate of Infanta, before coming to the Archdiocese of Nueva Caceres.

He has been a priest for around 41 years, and a bishop for about 20 years.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
