PDEA guard arrested in drug den

TABACO CITY—The employee of the  Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) who was arrested in a drug den on Sunday morning remains temporarily detained pending the issuance of a commitment order from the court.

George Burac Bariso, 40 years old, who introduced himself as PDEA Prison Guard II, was discovered in the residence of Mervin Carael Rolda and Clarence Carael at P-6, Brgy. Sto. Cristo, Tabaco City when joint elements of the Tabaco police, Regional Intelligence Unit, and the Albay Philippine Public Safety College implemented a search warrant issued by Judge Alben C. Rabe.

Present at the residence, the police said, were Bariso and Eric Adina Matias, 39 years old.

The operatives seized from their possession six plastic sachets containing a substance suspected to be shabu, a caliber .38 revolver with live ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and other non-drug items.

These resulted in the arrest of Bariso and Matias.

The search, inventory, and marking of seized items were made in the presence of the suspects, along with Brgy. Chairman Roderick Martirez, Brgy. Councilor Francia Salad and media representative Rodel Balingbing.

The suspects were charged with a complaint the violation of sections 11 and 12 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Bariso is also facing a complaint for illegal possession of firearms.
