Gov't allots Php9M for feasibility study on Masbate airport relocation

MASBATE CITY—The national government has approved a Php9-million funding for the conduct of a feasibility study on the relocation of the Masbate airport to Barangay Cayabon, Milagros town.

Acting Vice Governor Kaye Revil on Wednesday said the funding was announced during the Bicol Regional Development Council (RDC) meeting held at the National Economic Development Authority regional office on Friday.

The council, Revil said, initiated the relocation of the old airport from Masbate City to the town of Milagros while the Department of Transportation and Communications will prepare the feasibility study.

She said the proposed new airport is envisioned to have better facilities.

Revil said the RDC is interested to hold its next meeting in Masbate and that she expressed willingness to host it. —by Norman B. Tamar, PNA
