SP Cam Sur suspends Bato Acting Mayor

BATO, Camarines Sur—Bato Acting Mayor Alvin Sacueza was suspended by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan effective Monday (June 22) after he was found guilty of administrative charges such as dereliction of duty, negligence, and several other complaints.

The suspension order, which is good for sixty days, was served while Sacueza was preparing to report to his office as Acting Mayor, on account of the suspension order imposed by the Ombudsman against Mayor Jeannette Bernaldez.

Bernaldez was imposed an administrative suspension for 6 months and one day for abuse of power, upon the complaint of Municipal Health Officer Annelyn Mendoza.

The Ombudsman said Bernaldez should suffer the suspension to serve as a deterrent for other local officials who would attempt to perpetrate the same acts.

Meanwhile, insiders say Sacuza rushed to Manila yesterday to appeal the said order of suspension to the Office of the President.

Sacueza believes that the moment he perfects his appeal, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will stay the execution of the decision to suspend him.

As this developed, Bato employees and residents have expressed confusion over what is happening.

As of press time, it could not be ascertained whether the first councilor who assumed his office as Acting Vice Mayor has already occupied the position of Acting Mayor Sacueza—BICOLSTANDARD.COM Pirming enot. Pirming bago.
