LEGAZPI CITY—The Police Regional Office 5 has finally identified one of the suspects in the massacre that ended the life of small gold refinery owner Jesus "Ka Isong" Amaro, his son Boyet, and their driver.
Police tagged Randy Ogad as one of the suspects in the murders.
Witnesses, said the police, positively pinpointed and identified him after they were shown pictures of wanted persons.
Ogad's last known address was at Brgy. Urban Poor, Daet, Camarines Norte and/or Purok 3 Mancruz, Daet, Camarines Norte.
He is presently included in the PNP PRO5 list of Regional Most Wanted Persons. Police have placed a Php90,000 bounty for his capture.
Apart from being implicated in this case, the suspect is also the subject of an outstanding warrant of arrest for murder.
Docketed as Criminal Case No. 2008-7107, the case is pending before RTC Br 53, Sorsogon City, with no bail recommended.
At around 4:30 a.m. on April 5, nine armed men stormed into the compound of Jesus Amaro y Balbuena, also known as Ka Isong, a a 64-year-old businessman engaged in small-scale mining operation.
The malefactors then hogtied Amaro's employees, including Alwin Licup (security guard), Steven Ramones (helper) and Ricky Almodiel (family driver).
Thereafter, the suspects proceeded to the duplex and shot Jesus Amaro, Gilbert Amaro, and Ricky Almodiel.
Suspects the ransacked the premises and carted away cash money and other properties of the victims.
The suspects used the Nissan Patrol Safari owned by the victim as their getaway vehicle. Said vehicle was later abandoned and recovered in Brgy. Matipuron, Milagros, Masbate.
The men were described by police to be wearing the PNP athletic uniform, blue pants, and wet look shoes.
Meanwhile, Amaro's Hi-lux van, bearing plate number YI7159, was also ambushed last April 18 in Sitio Lumbang, Barangay Usab Masbate City.
His brother-in-law, and two others died in the incident. The vehicle's driver was beheaded.—
