In an interview over radio station BBS-DWLV, Naval said that he will run for mayor of the said town in the 2016 polls.

He said that his main plan is to push for a more vibrant tourism program as that the said town is well-known as a tourist destination.

“I want Caramoan to be the lead municipality in the tourism programs. I have been engaged in the tourism business in this town for the past 20 years. However, I do not see any change,” Naval claimed in the interview.

“I am also alarmed by the fact that the incumbent Mayor, Jun “Onyo” Cordial’s wife Malyn is being groomed as the mayoralty candidate. I do not believe that there will be any improvement if she succeeds in her bid,” he added.

Naval also said that while his political base is Calabanga, the hometown of his father, his mother’s grandmother is a native of Caramoan.

"In fact, my grandmother donated the lot where the town hall is located including the land where the church is," he shared.

When asked why he decided to leave Calabanga, he said that his absence can be similar to a father who is looking for an opportunity outside of his original place. In due time, he will return to his old hometown, he said.

In an a separate interview by BICOL STANDARD, it was learned that apart from Angel Naval and Malyn Cordial, councilor Eddie Bonita is also eyeing the mayoralty position. —BICOLSTANDARD.COM Pirmeng enot. Pirmeng bago
