2 sisters drown in a river in Ocampo, CSur

OCAMPO, CSur – An accident occurred this morning at Barangay Ayugan, where 2 children drowned while taking a bath is a nearby Kaanunangan river in Sitio Hacienda Espirito, this town.

Police reports say that at around 8:50 this morning (April 20), a report was forwarded to the Ocampo Municipal Police Station by Lorena Casano, informing the said office of the drowning incident.

Victims in this tragedy were Mary Jean Silva Espares, 10 years old and May Silva Espares, 6 years old, both residents of said barangay.

It was revealed to the police investigators that sisters Mary Jean and May went to the said river to refresh themselves by swimming in the shallow portion of the river.

The younger sister ( May), however accidentally slid to the deeper portion of the river, making it difficult for her to swim to a safer ground.

Realizing that her sister was in danger of drowning,  Mary Jean tried to rescue May, bur she herself also drowned due to the strong current of the river.

An eight year old girl drowned in a resort here last Sunday (April 19).

Investigators from the Provincial Police Office (PPO) identified the girl as Janna Mae de Leon.

The incident occurred at around 10:00 am, at Villa Criselda Resort, at Barangay I in thie town.

The victim was said to be playing with 10-year old sister when she accidentally fell into the deep part of the swimming pool.

When the rescuers retrived her body, she was immediately rushed to the Sto. Nino Hospital in Daet, but the doctor pronounced her dead on arrival.
