Suspect in Jeff Villafuerte murder surrenders

PILI, Camarines Sur-- One of the suspects in the Jeffrey Villafuerte murder has finally surrendered to authorities.

He submitted to the custody of authorities at around noontime today (March 3).

He was later brought to Camarines Sur and subsequently turned over to the Police Provincial Office for proper disposition.

Rey admitted to Police that he was the one who shot the 30-year-old victim, but reasoned it was merely accidental. 

Rey, along with his twin Eusebio "Abong" Rey, were tagged as the suspects in the killing of Villafuerte.

The other twin remains at large.

Two two suspects are sons of former Dayangdang barangay chief Bert Rey.

Meanwhille, their mother Shirley, rushed to the Camarines Sur Provincial Police Station, upon learning that her son has turned himsel in. 

The suspects' mother told the media that their family never purposely keeps the whereabouts of their sons.

She explained that her son Emmanuel was just terrified so he opted to surrender in Albay instead.

Jeffrey, who is the son of former Penafrancia barangay chief Jojo Villafuerte, was buried at noontime today.--Report by Oscar Esmenda BICOLSTANDARD.COM
