RTC orders arrest of Goa town mayor, vice mayor, 33 other Muhlach allies

TIGAON, Camarines Sur—Goa Mayor Antero Lim, Vice Mayor Alfredo Gonzaga, along with 33 others were ordered arrested over serious illegal detention and/or malicious mischief charges.

The 35 warrants of arrest were issued on March 18, 2015 by Judge Noel D. Paulite, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Judge Branch 30 in San Jose, Camarines Sur.

According to the police, the following elected municipal and barangay officials of Goa and Tigaon, Camarines Sur were ordered arrested:

b. Vice Mayor Alfredo Gonzaga - Goa, Camarines Sur
c. Mun.Coun. Alex Camacho - Goa, Camarines Sur

f. Brgy. Capt. Siegfredo F Tolentino Jr - Gubat, Tigaon Camarines

No bail was recommended against all the accused. 

Copies of the warrants of arrest of the six elected municipal and barangay officials were also sent to the Provincial Officer of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Camarines Sur for their information and ready reference. 

This arrest order was issued in relation to the case of People of the Philippines vs. Alfredo "Pidong" Gonzaga, et al, under Criminal Case No. T-4032 for Serious Illegal Detention.

It will be recalled that the complaint for Serious Illegal Detention was filed by Tigaon Town Mayor Arnie Fuentebella and several others when they were prevented from leaving the said building for at least two (2) days during the counting of the votes.

The supporters of then Congressional candidate Aga Muhlach were enraged upon learning that their supported candidate was losing the election count. To express their discontent, they allegedly pelted stones at the municipal building, where Fuentebella and his company were staying.

The volatile peace and order situation within the compound of the municipal premises was further exacerbated by the results of the election turned out to be in favor of Felix William “Wimpy” Fuentebella, who was already leading by several hundred votes over Muhlach in the unofficial count.

Charged in the Information for Serious Illegal Detention defined under Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code were the following: Alfredo “Pidong” Gonzaga, Vice Mayor of Goa; Rogelio B.
