This was the information relayed by Noly Banzuela, head of the Tabaco delegation, to the Palarong Bicol 2015 secretariat this morning.

Mayor Maria Josefa "Marie" Demetriou was rushed to the Naga Imaging Center Cooperative (NICC) Doctor's Hospital after she succumbed to the sweltering heat during the opening ceremonies of the Palarong Bicol held in Pili, Camarines Sur.

"Mayor Demetriou suffered from heat stroke," Banzuela told BICOL STANDARD.

Initially, the mayor was confined at the hospital's Intensive Care Unit, but was later transferred to a private room after her condition improved.

"The mayor is still confined at the hospital, but there should be no cause for worry," assured Banzuela.–With report from Oscar Esmenda BICOL STANDARD. Pirming enot. Pirming bago.
