Palarong Bicol 2015 opens in Cam Sur

NAGA CITY—Effervescent opening ceremonies welcomed thousands of athletes, coaches, medical teams, local and school officials from across the region this morning for the opening of Palarong Bicol 2015 at the Freedom Sports Complex in San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur.

Starting the kickoff was a parade of the delegations at 5 AM, followed by an opening program, which featured colorful presentations, at around 10 AM.

Thirteen divisions from the six provinces and seven cities of Bicol are participating in this year's Palaro.

These include Naga City, Iriga City, Legazpi City, Ligao City, Tabaco City, Sorsogon City Masbate City, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Sorsogon, Masbate and Catanduanes.

DepEd Regional Director Ramon Fiel Abcede was the guest of honor, in lieu of DepEd Undersecretary Mario A. Deriquito, who could not make it to the annual sporting event.

Among the events this year are athletics, archery, arnis, badminton, basketball, boxing, chess, football, gymnastics, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwando, tennis, volley, billiard, wushu, and wrestling.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
