The couple voluntarily surrendered to Hon. Valentin Pura. Pura is the  Presiding Judge of  RTC Branch 23, the tribunal  where the murder cases were raffled.

The former Lupi town mayor Jovy and radio commentator husband Joe were accompanied by Atty. Marion Legacion when they appeared in court. Legacion is the wife of Nelson Legacion, vice-mayor of this city.

An petition for bail was filed for the temporary liberty of the spouses. The application is set for hearing tomorrow afternoon.

Murder is generally a non-bailable offense.

It will be recalled that Matamorosa was shot by a  lone gunman on Oct. 27, 2013.

Police investigation revealed that the assailant walked to the  unsuspecting mayor from behind and fired shots at him as he was about to board his car.

At that time of the incident, Jovy Osabal was the vice mayor of Lupi. She later succeeded as mayor after the death of Matamorosa.

Jovy Osabal again ran during the 2013 polls, but lost to the slain mayor's brother, Bobby Matamorosa--Oscar Esmenda for BICOLSTANDARD.COM
