The festival will have its soft opening on April 5 while the formal opening will be on April 6, Salceda said.
Dorothy Colle, Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office chief, said the beer plaza, food stalls and culinaria ground will open starting April 5 while the grand opening will be held at the Albay Astrodome on April 6 when Salceda will officially declare the start of DMF 2015.
Expected to grace the opening are Department of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez and DOT Regional Director Maria "Nini" Ravanilla.
On the first day, the Provincial Government of Albay will hold a concert of James Reid at the Albay Astrodome, which will be free to the public.
Colle said the DMF 2015 will have 200 activities, with 29 highlight events like the Legend Show Down, street presentation,
Sayaw Kan Tulong Bulod, street dancing, Search for Mutya ng Daragang Magayon and Ginoong Magayon, city and municipal nights, beginning and ending concerts, culture and the arts, nightly shows, trade industry special and sports.
The festival, she said, will again feature the Mayon 360 which is expected to be joined in by 400 participants from the Philippines and other countries.
The tourism officer claimed that the DMF draws in throngs of foreign and local tourists owing to the famous natural tourist destinations in Albay like the Mayon Volcano, Cagsawa Ruins, Lignon Hill and many others.
In fact, she said, Albay is on target with its contribution to the ten-million-tourist target of the Philippines in 2016.
Colle said the province has already had 350,000 foreign tourist-visitors vis-a-vis its target of 800,000 for the year while the domestic tourists have already reached 800,000 actual arrivals compared to the one-million target. (by Nancy Ibo Mediavillo, PNA)
