NAGA CITY-- A two-year-old toddler died in an early morning blaze Saturday morning. She was charred beyond recognition.

The fire broke out at around 7:41 am at the residence of Victor Aspe and Marivic Tan in Zone 3, Pagdaicon, Mabolo, here.

Initial reports say that the child was sleeping on the second floor of the house when, for unknown reasons, fire was ignited in the ceiling.

Police Regional Office 5 spokesperson Malu Calubaquib named the fatality as Caszofhia Benjamin Bermudo.

The child's parents, who were preparing breakfast at that time, were unable to save the child due to the thick smoke and fire which quickly engulfed the house.

Also injured in the blaze was Justine San Jose Tan, 28 years old.

The  incident was declared fire out at about 7:54 AM.

The Bureau of Fire Protection Naga is still conducting further investigation to determine the cause of the fire. -- With reports from Oscar Esmenda and Ian Mar Nebres Lee BICOLSTANDARD.COM Pirming enot. Pirming bago.
