The suspects, according to the initial investigation, are believed to be members of the CPP-NPA-NDF.
Prior to the shooting, members of the 9th Infantry Batallion of the Philippine Army reported that they recovered two suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at around 5:30 in the morning.
These were found at the north portion of their detachment at Sitio Dinumpilan, Barangay Malinao.
The IEDs each weighed more or less 1 kilogram each with 40 meters of wire and assorted empty shells for the M14 and M16.
This afternoon, members of the Libmanan and Gainza police, along with the PPSC and EOD team of the Camarines Sur Provincial Police Office went to the area to dispose properly of the IEDs.
The group was beginning to leave the area when they were ambushed by an undetermined number of suspected rebels.
PO3 Aguinaldo, the victim, was hit in the abdomen by said suspects.
He was immediately brought to the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City for treatment.
As of the time of this writing, the victim is still recovering.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
