This was revealed by Mac Dormiendo, External Relations Officer for Luzon of San Miguel Pure Foods Co., Inc. in a letter to Albay Gov. Joey Salceda.

Dormiendo said that in said line of products, Magnolia features the local specialties of a province to bring the unique flavors to the rest of the nation.

The piquant pepper was selected to represent the Bicol region, he added.

Dormiendo will meet with the Albay governor to seek his approval to feature photos of the province, along with its provincial seal, on the ice cream tub.

"We are all excited as this will be the first time anywhere in the country that this ingredient will be used for our product in this scale," he said.

Among the local flavors which are part of the Best of the Philippines line are Macapuno Langka from Laguna, Caramel Cashew Fudge of Palawan, Durian Pastillas of Davao, Ube Keso of Baguio, and Pinipig Pandan of Pampanga.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
