Bicol employment rate up by 1.3%

LEGAZPI CITY—The employment rate in the Bicol region ticked up by 1.3% in 2014, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra announced here on Friday.

Speaking before the participants of the 12th Annual Ulat Sa Bayan, Lacambra said that compared to their 2013 data, 35,611 new jobs were added.

This robust job growth decreased the unemployment rate to 4.9%, and the underemployment rate by 7.3%.

Lacambra explained that the improvement is due to the agency’s intensified employment and training programs.
