Abonal takes oath as CSur Board Member

CAMARINES SUR-- A beaming Atty. Gabriel Ariel Abonal was proclaimed as the Second Member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Second District of this province on February 20, Friday, at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Session hall.

The proclamation was made pursuant to the writ of execution issued by the Comelec en banc mandating the Special Provincial Board of Canvassers to convene to proclaim Abonal and Darius Nopra.

Said body is composed of the following: Atty. Abigail Justine Cuaresma-Lilagan (chairman),  Atty. John Rex C. Landiangco (vice-chairman), and Director Ester Villaflor-Roxas.

After Abonal's proclamation at the Comelec main office, he subsequently took his oath of office before Hon. Reynaldo A. Alhambra, Presiding Judge of Branch 53 of the Regional Trial Court-Manila.

Darius Nopra, who was also ordered by the Comelec to be proclaimed as the First Member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan,  did not attend the proceedings.

Meanwhile, Romulo Hernandez filed an opposition to Abonal's proclamation. Among others, he argues that the office vacated by him should be filled through the process of appointment.

Hernandez was ousted from office after Comelec cancelled his certificate of candidacy for being violative of the three-limit rule imposed by law.  --BICOLSTANDARD.COM
