NAGA CITY— The Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP) here announced today that it has approved an ordinance which provides a provisional fare cut of 50 centavos for tricycles.

The base fare will, therefore, be P7.50 from the current fare rate which is is 8.00 pesos.

The SP also said that: “a discounted fare of P6.00 shall be accorded to every student, senior citizen, and person with disability (PWD) with valid ID card.”

The rollback was the result of the plea of the commuters, who sought for a fare reduction due to the decrease in oil prices.

The new rate is also in accordance with public consultations made with commuters and tricycle operators in this city.

The rollback authorized by the ordinance is , however, temporary.

The city legislative council clarified that once the gasoline price returns to its original price in 2014, the fare shall be reverted back to P8.00.

Although the effect of the fare cut is not permanent, commuters were grateful for the decrease in the fare rate.--BICOLSTANDARD.COM
